Now I know we will be learning about Dark Creatures and Defensive Spells in this class and I plan to make it fun and entertaining as well as educational but I will not tolerate excessive goofing off in my classroom. You are of course there to first: learn, second: have fun. I will dock house points and hand out detentions for those who do not follow the rules.
Now I want you to be able to enjoy class and learn as much as you possible can. If something i'm teaching isn't clear, ask me. Do not be embarassed to ask questions because most likely there is at least one other person wondering the same thing. So ask lots of questions and get the most out of this class.
We will be studying certain defensive spells to help you learn to protect yourself as well as prepare you for the Advanced Defense Against The Dark Arts and We will be learning about Basic Dark Creatures. These are creatures you might very well venture across at sometime in your life and I will prepare you as to how to deal with them. You will be facing the creatures we study.
I have chosen, as do most professors to use the official O.W.L. & N.E.W.T. testing scale for the class. This is so students become familiar with the scores and the grades.
I will be basing your final grades off of how you do grade-wise in 3 categories.
It is crucial you do the work and get it in on time. If you want to pass my class, because it is role-play based you must rp at least 3 times per lesson [if we have a full, active class please try and post at least 5 times];; this does not include however posts such as: "*He/She sat there and listened while everyone spoke*"
Lessons will be taught every two weeks. You will have homework assigned with each lesson that must be in by the due date or you will be docked points.
I will be giving a final. Questions for the final will be pulled from various lessons and homework questions.
♦A wand;; very important
♦Quill/Parchment for notes
♦Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
♦Frightful Beasts and How to Hide from Them;; obvious factor you will notice when you buy the book, it has legs and tends to walk around;; but like in PoA you do not know how to prevent it
♦Defensive Magical Theory by Wilbert Slinkhard
♦Practical Defensive Magics & Its Use Against the Dark Arts by Quentin Trimble
To recieve a quill for my class you need to recieve an A or higher as a final grade (that is at least a 70%). Extra credit can be given if you need it but be warned it will not be very easy, and will only be given in certain circumstances. So please try to maintain a good grade by doing homework, tests, tasks, AND ROLE-PLAYING. You cannot pass this class if you do not abide by my roleplaying rules.
This is just a tentative schedule. Some lessons may take less time, some may take more.
